Carl Larsson Custom Christmas Card Snowy Scene

The Front Yard and the Wash House by Carl Larsson, 1897.

The Front Yard and the Wash House by Carl Larsson, 1897. Carl Larsson's little girl, all bundled up in her winter coat, pushes her little sled toward the red-painted wash house and the frozen lake where her old brother is putting on his ice skates. A midwinter sun shines through the frosty mist and the branches of a birch tree. A sheaf of wheat hangs high in a tree, food for birds which have gathered.

Carl Larsson Custom Christmas Card Evening Meal

Evening Meal by Carl Larrson 1905.

Evening Meal by Carl Larrson 1905.  A charming portrait of an intimate winter's evening meal shared by brother and sister. I love the way the way the little boy's hair flies up as he blows on his soup.

Beatrix Potter Rabbits Custom Christmas Cards

Beatrix Potter Rabbits Custom Christmas Cards

Merry Christmas and Plenty of Buns Beatrix Potter

Three Rabbits Eating Plenty of Buns by Beatrix Potter, painted in the early to mid 1890s.

Use the "personalize it" feature to quickly and easily personalize with your name(s) and also change the message if you wish. You may also change the typeface, font size and color, etc., using the "customize it" feature.

Description: A delightful painting of three bunnies eating, yes, plenty of buns! I love her ingenious use of lettering which spells out the message "A Merry Christmas and Plenty of Buns." And liking good puns the way I do, I also love the play on words (buns like you eat and "buns" as a short form of "bunnies"). Beatrix Potter normally signed her works with her three initials in a lower corner, but she continued her playful use of lettering in this particular painting and placed them on the key tag instead, which I find quite charming.

On the inside, there is a border repeat of the delft blue crockery design and more rabbits from an unpublished 1899 Beatrix Potter pen-and-ink drawing.

Please visit my gallery's Beatrix Potter Christmas Collection for matching items.

About the original work of art:
Artist: Beatrix Potter
Title: Three Rabbits Eating Plenty of Buns

About the original work of art: Burne-Jones painted two sets of three angels playing musicalinstruments, a small set in oil and a larger one in tempera. (Tempera was a medium favored by Italian Renaissance artists and involved the fusion of pigments with water and egg yolk. Burne-Jones was one of the few -- if not the only -- Aesthetic Movement artists to revive its use.

The artist retained this work in his own studio for ten years before parting with it to the dealers from whom it was immediately bought. Ah, I can understand why the artist was loathe to part with it, and why a buyer immediately snapped it up.
