Alphonse Mucha Ivy Art Nouveau Mousepad

Alphonse Mucha Ivy Art Nouveau Mouse Pad

Le Lierre (Ivy), 1901 by Alphonse Mucha.

A marvelous palette of soft greens, dusty lilac and mahogany brown. I love the graceful swags of ivy looped through her hair.

Like its companion piece Le Laurier (Laurel), the wonderful trompe-l'oeil effect gives this work an earthy, garden feel and a tactile appeal. You want to actually reach out and feel the texture of the tile mosaics. The Arts and Crafts Movement influence is stronger and the palette more restrained in these two pieces than in most of Mucha's other works, yet that lyrical Mucha magic is as potent as ever.

Matching items are available in my gallery's Art Nouveau Collection.  Add the matching mug for a smashing desk set.

Beatrix Potter Merry Christmas Rabbit Mouse Pad

Beatrix Potter Merry Christmas Rabbit Mouse Pad from Zazzle.com

Beatrix Potter Merry Christmas Rabbit Computer Mouse Pad Mousepad

Merry Christmas and Plenty of Buns Beatrix Potter

Three Rabbits Eating Plenty of Buns by Beatrix Potter, painted in the early to mid 1890s.

A delightful painting of three bunnies eating, yes, plenty of buns! I love her ingenious use of lettering which spells out the message "A Merry Christmas and Plenty of Buns." And liking good puns the way I do, I also love the play on words (buns like you eat and "buns" as a short form of "bunnies"). Beatrix Potter normally signed her works with her three initials in a lower corner, but she continued her playful use of lettering in this particular painting and placed them on the key tag instead, which I find quite charming.

Please visit my gallery's Beatrix Potter Christmas Collection for matching items. Binders in this same design are also available in different sizes (one inch and two inch).

Carl Larsson Christmas Tree Mouse Pad Mousepad

Carl Larsson Juletræ (Christmas Tree) 1917

Looking at Larsson's paintings always leaves me feeling refreshed, and this one is no exception. I love the graceful lines, the feeling of calm anticipation and the sense of a happy family this painting evokes.

Description: A pretty little blond girl in traditional folk costume stands on a chair to add a candle to the Christmas tree.

Add the matching coffee mug for a charming holiday desk set. Matching note cards, address labels, stickers and more are available in my gallery's Holiday and Winter Collection.

About the artist: Larsson, Carl (b Stockholm, 28 May 1853; d Falun, 22 Jan. 1919) was a Swedish painter, illustrator, printmaker, and writer. His work included numerous portraits and book illustrations, as well as several large murals (the best known are those on Sweden's artistic history in the Nationalmuseum, Stockholm, 1896), but he is now remembered mainly for his watercolors of the idyllic life he enjoyed in his now-famous house in the village of Sundborn with his wife Karin and their eight children.

Redoute Red Camellia Botanical Print Mousepad from Zazzle.com

Redoute Red Camellia Botanical Print Mousepad

Pierre-Joseph Redouté Camellia japonica 1827

As a Camellia grower myself, I can attest that all of us Camellia lovers are positively passionate about these little trees -- so if there's a Camellia grower in your life, you've found the perfect gift!

I adore this particular print: lovely, simple, elegant, charming -- everything but the marvelous Camellia scent. Produced by "the Raphael of flowers" Pierre-Joseph Redouté for his sumptuous book of engravings Choix des plus belles Fleurs.

I love the graceful lines, the vibrant greens of the sun-dappled leaves and the rich red of the flower itself. Truly, it's an exquisite bloom. (Well, that's no wonder: the specimen he painted belonged to a French princess!)

Matching note cards, Christmas cards, stickers, postage stamps and more are available in my gallery's Antique Botanical Prints Collection.

Bosschaert Bouquet in an Arched Window Mouse Pad

Bosschaert Bouquet in an Arched Window Mousepad

Bouquet in an Arched Window c. 1618 Bosschaert

Exquisite in detail, this glorious bouquet is perched in an arched window with a sublime view behind. I love the little caterpillar and the mayfly, and the tiny bee. Seashells also sit in the nice, one a perfect murax. The more you look, the more tiny details you notice.

Palette drawn from the flowers beloved of the Dutch in the 16th and 17th centuries. There are Rembrandt tulips, roses, Dutch iris, daffodils, narcissus, pinks, cosmos, marigolds and more.

Inside left is a verse from the same period by Pierre de Ronsard (1524-1585). The faint floral pattern on the inside pages also dates from the period.

Fully customizable, so you can add a message if you wish, or remove the verse or background images if you wish, using the "customize it" feature.

Matching stickers, postcards, gift tags and more are available in my gallery's Renaissance Flowers Collection.

About the original work of art:
Artist: Bosschaert, Ambrosius the Elder
Title: Bouquet in an Arched Window
Date: c. 1618
Period or Movement: Northern Renaissance
Medium and Support: Oil on panel, 64 x 46 cm
Location: Mauritshuis, The Hague

About the artist: Bosschaert (b. 1573, Antwerpen, d. 1621, Middleburg) was a Flemish flower and still-life painter, active mainly in the Netherlands, where he is recorded in Middelburg from 1593 to 1613 and later in the Utrecht Guild in 1616. Although he spent the major part of his life in the Netherlands, Bosschaert's style was basically Flemish - similar to that of Jan Brueghel, with whom he ranks in quality and as one of the pioneers of flower painting as an independent genre.

His bouquets have a rich variety of flowers from different seasons arranged in a formal way. The degree of finish and exactitude, and the subtlety of the colour, are exceptional. His Bouquet in an Arched Windowis one of the most reproduced of all flower pieces. Bosschaert may fairly be said to have initiated the Dutch tradition of flower painting and his style was continued by his three sons, Ambrosius the Younger, Abraham, and Johannes, and also by his brother-in-law, Balthasar van der Ast.

 Renaissance Angel Mousepad Mousepad Pinturicchio

The Annunciation (detail)1501 by Pinturicchio

Detail of the Archangel Gabriel from Pinturicchio's fresco of the Annunciation at Santa Maria Maggiore in his native Umbrian town of Spello.

The rich Renaissance greens, reds and golds of Gabriel's robes are in vivid contrast to the more muted tones of the elaborate architectural details in the background. The traditional lilies held in Gabriel's hand are particularly graceful and finely done.

Perfect at Christmas time, beautiful and tasteful year round.

Angel Playing a Flageolet Burne-Jones Mouse Pad

Angel Playing a Flageolet Burne-Jones Mousepad

Angel Playing a Flageolet Edward Coley Burne-Jones

Angel Playing a Flageolet, tempera and gold paint on paper, c. 1878 by Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones. Palette is drawn from the Renaissance, rich in red, blue and gold.

Perfect at Christmas time, beautiful and tasteful year round.

Matching cards, postcards, stickers and more are available in my gallery's Angel Collection.

About the original work of art: Burne-Jones painted two sets of three angels playing musicalinstruments, a small set in oil and a larger one in tempera. (Tempera was a medium favored by Italian Renaissance artists and involved the fusion of pigments with water and egg yolk. Burne-Jones was one of the few -- if not the only -- Aesthetic Movement artists to revive its use.

The artist retained this work in his own studio for ten years before parting with it to the dealers from whom it was immediately bought. Ah, I can understand why the artist was loathe to part with it, and why a buyer immediately snapped it up.

Verneuil Art Nouveau Seahorse Mouse Pad

Verneuil Art Nouveau Seahorse Mousepad from Zazzle.com

Elegant Sea Horses by Maurice Pillard-Verneuil

Elegant seahorses cling to undulating seaweed. You can almost feel the gentle sway of the water. Sophisticated palette of onyx black and chamoisee brown on an Isabelline (similar to parchment white) background. One of M.P. Verneuil's signature designs and a fine example of Gilded Age grace and refinement. I love the subtle hand-stenciled effect.

Add the matching mug for a smashing set.

About the artist: Maurice Pillard-Verneuil studied under Art Nouveau master Eugene Grasset. An early interest in Japanese printmaking blossomed into a passion for Asian art after his visit to Southeast Asia. In love with nature and the natural world, he drew inspiration from plants, flowers, animals, insects and marine life.

About this artwork:This particular design is from a suite of 60 color lithographs after decorative Art Nouveau devices by Mucha, Verneuil and Auriol found in the book 'Combinaisons Ornementales se Multipliant à l'Infini à l'Aide du Miroir' (Decorative Combinations, Infinitely Multiplied with a Mirror) by George Auriol, pseudonym of Jean-Georges Huyot, journalist, poet, songwriter, painter and engraver. Published in the year 1900 by Librairie Centrale des Beaux Arts, Paris.

It has been carefully and lovingly prepared for print by a professional graphic artist using state-of-the-art software. It is a joy to bring the best art of previous centuries into our own for everyday use and enjoyment. I hope you will enjoy using this mouse pad as much as I enjoyed working on the design.
