Carl Larsson Christmas Tree Coffee Tea Mug

Carl Larsson Christmas Tree Coffee Tea Mug from Zazzle.com

Carl Larsson Christmas Tree Coffee Tea Mug

Carl Larsson Juletræ (Christmas Tree) 1917

Looking at Larsson's paintings always leaves me feeling refreshed, and this one is no exception. I love the graceful lines, the feeling of calm anticipation and the sense of a happy family this painting evokes.

Description: A pretty little blond girl in traditional folk costume stands on a chair to add a candle to the Christmas tree.

Matching note cards, address labels, stickers and more are available in my gallery's Holiday and Winter Collection.

About the artist: Larsson, Carl (b Stockholm, 28 May 1853; d Falun, 22 Jan. 1919) was a Swedish painter, illustrator, printmaker, and writer. His work included numerous portraits and book illustrations, as well as several large murals (the best known are those on Sweden's artistic history in the Nationalmuseum, Stockholm, 1896), but he is now remembered mainly for his watercolors of the idyllic life he enjoyed in his now-famous house in the village of Sundborn with his wife Karin and their eight children.

A beautiful snowy scene of outdoor winter fun: horse-drawn sleighs, children sledding with their dogs, a merry-go-round at the winter carnival. Winter sunset colors of pink and yellow and pale green sky as flocks of swallows emerge from the church spires. From a 1916 painting.

Verneuil Art Nouveau Seahorse Coffee Mug

Verneuil Art Nouveau Seahorse Coffee Mug
Elegant Sea Horses by Maurice Pillard-Verneuil

Elegant seahorses cling to undulating seaweed. You can almost feel the gentle sway of the water. Sophisticated palette of onyx black and chamoisee brown. One of M.P. Verneuil's signature designs and a fine example of Gilded Age grace and refinement. I love the subtle hand stenciled look.

Available in all styles and sizes.

About the artist: Maurice Pillard-Verneuil studied under Art Nouveau master Eugene Grasset. An early interest in Japanese printmaking blossomed into a passion for Asian art after his visit to Southeast Asia. In love with nature and the natural world, he drew inspiration from plants, flowers, animals, insects and marine life.

About this artwork:  This particular design is from a suite of 60 color lithographs after decorative Art Nouveau devices by Mucha, Verneuil and Auriol found in the book 'Combinaisons Ornementales se Multipliant à l'Infini à l'Aide du Miroir' (Decorative Combinations, Infinitely Multiplied with a Mirror) by George Auriol, pseudonym of Jean-Georges Huyot, journalist, poet, songwriter, painter and engraver. Published in the year 1900 by Librairie Centrale des Beaux Arts, Paris.

It has been carefully and lovingly prepared for print by a professional graphic artist using state-of-the-art software. It is a joy to bring the best art of previous centuries into our own for everyday use and enjoyment. I hope you will enjoy using this mug as much as I enjoyed working on the design.

Alphonse Mucha Laurel Art Nouveau Coffee Mug

Alphonse Mucha Laurel Art Nouveau Coffee Mug from Zazzle.com

Alphonse Mucha's Le Laurier (Laurel), 1901

Le Laurier (Laurel), 1901 by Alphonse Mucha (color lithograph).

Like its companion pieceLe Lierre (Ivy), the wonderful trompe l'oeil effect gives this piece an earthy, garden feel and a tactile appeal. You want to actually reach out and feel the texture of the tile mosaics. The Arts and Crafts Movement influence is stronger and the palette more restrained in these two pieces than in Mucha's other works, yet that lyrical Mucha magic is as potent as ever.

See my gallery for coordinating items.

Alphonse Mucha Ivy Art Nouveau Coffee Mug

Alphonse Mucha Ivy Art Nouveau Coffee Mug

Alphonse Mucha's Le Lierre (Ivy), 1901

Le Lierre (Ivy), 1901 by Alphonse Mucha.

A marvelous palette of soft greens, dusty lilac and mahogany brown. I love the graceful swags of ivy looped through her hair.

You want to actually reach out and feel the texture of the tile mosaics. Blue Jay Mug with Henry David Thoreau Quote

Blue Jay Mug from Zazzle.com

Blue Jay Mug

with accompanying words from Henry David Thoreau

A jaunty Blue Jay with accompanying words by Henry David Thoreau in a script with a slightly rough and antique handwritten feel appropriate to the quotation. The text reads:

"Hear! hear!" cried the jay from a neighboring tree,
where I'd a twittering for quite some time,
"Winter has a concentrated and nutty kernel
if you know where to look for it."
~ Henry David Thoreau 28 November 1858 journal entry

The Blue Jay was inspired by a 1760s American watercolor by an unknown artist; the chestnut, seed pod and tiny garden spider by late 16th-century works.

It's a joy to bring the art and writings of previous centuries into our own for everyday use and enjoyment. I hope you will enjoy using this mug as much as I enjoyed creating the design.

Species: Blue Jay Cyanocitta cristata

Perfect for backyard birders and nature lovers!

Feed the Birds Cardinal Mug

Feed the Birds Cardinal Mug from Zazzle.com

Feed the Birds. It's a Cardinal Virtue!

Cheerful cardinals parade around this mug. "Feed the Birds. It's a Cardinal Virtue!" in classy script with the feel of handwriting above. There's even a sunflower seed for a touch of fun. Perfect for the backyard birder or nature lover!

Species: Northern Cardinal Cardinal cardinalis

I drew the inspiration for the cardinals from a wonderful 1760s American watercolor by an unknown artist. I hope you will enjoy this mug as much as I enjoyed creating the design. It's a joy to bring this artist's work into our century for everyday use and enjoyment.

Available in all styles and colors. Try them out and see which suits you best!

Cardinals in a Row Mug

Cardinals in a Row Mug from Zazzle.com

Cardinals in a Row Mug

Yes, both kinds!

A 16th-century Cardinal leads a procession of Cardinals of the avian persuasion. The script above reads:

"Cardinals process in a row
Red peaked hats against the snow"

Yeah, I just made up the words, but they certainly fit. I love the "oh come now" expression on the Cardinal's face juxtaposed with the birds' "happy birdies are we" expressions.

The human Cardinal is from Raphael's Portrait of a Cardinal (1510-11). The Cardinal birds were inspired by a 1760s American watercolor by an unknown artist. A fun addition to my American Songbirds Series.

Species: Northern Cardinal Cardinal cardinalis

I hope you will enjoy using this mug as much as I enjoyed creating the design. It's truly a joy to bring the art of previous centuries into our own for everyday use and enjoyment.

This mug is available in all styles. Try them out and see which you like best.

Still Life with Ham and Cat Fine Art Mug

Still Life with Ham and Cat Fine Art Mug from Zazzle.com

Where there is ham there should also be a cat

The lovely Miss Moo poses with one of her favorite edibles. In her considered feline opinion, Willem Claesz Heda's Still Life with Ham and Silverware is much improved by the addition of a voluptuous cat.

Miss Moo's words of wisdom are also added at left: "Where there is ham, there should also be a cat. (The reverse is also true.)"

Perfect for the cat lover who is also an art lover (or ham lover!).

Diary of a Bad Cat Coffee Mug

Diary of a Bad Cat Mug from Zazzle.com

Diary of a Bad Cat Coffee Tea Mug

The Official Bad Cat Mug

Inspired by the header of Clarence's blog Diary of a Bad Cat. For cool cats only. (Clarence says it will make you cool. Almost as cool as he is. )

Black cat carrying a red carpet bag and umbrella inspired by a 1909 postcard. Grunge background of yellowed newsprint, swirls, old lace and a coffee stain (well, we hope it's a coffee stain -- you never know with Clarence -- it does look suspicious!).

A line from an early 20th century song "I don't know where I'm going but I'm on my way" in upper left corner. (It seems to be Clarence's motto.)

Perfect for cool cats, bad cats and cat admirers of all stripes.
