A professional graphic designer who uses her background in art history and restoration to create everyday objects you can enjoy in your home or as wearable art. It's a joy to bring the best art and design of ages past into everyday life, plus invitations and DIY party projects. If you don't already share my love for artists and illustrators such as Alphonse Mucha, Edmund Dulac, Beatrix Potter, Carl Larsson and John Tenniel, perhaps you'll discover a new enthusiasm.

Blue Jay Mug with Henry David Thoreau Quote

Blue Jay Mug from Zazzle.com

Blue Jay Mug

with accompanying words from Henry David Thoreau

A jaunty Blue Jay with accompanying words by Henry David Thoreau in a script with a slightly rough and antique handwritten feel appropriate to the quotation. The text reads:

"Hear! hear!" cried the jay from a neighboring tree,
where I'd a twittering for quite some time,
"Winter has a concentrated and nutty kernel
if you know where to look for it."
~ Henry David Thoreau 28 November 1858 journal entry

The Blue Jay was inspired by a 1760s American watercolor by an unknown artist; the chestnut, seed pod and tiny garden spider by late 16th-century works.

It's a joy to bring the art and writings of previous centuries into our own for everyday use and enjoyment. I hope you will enjoy using this mug as much as I enjoyed creating the design.

Species: Blue Jay Cyanocitta cristata

Perfect for backyard birders and nature lovers!
