Alphonse Mucha Ivy Art Nouveau Round Button Pin

Alphonse Mucha Ivy Art Nouveau Round Button Pin from Zazzle.com

Alphonse Mucha's Le Lierre (Ivy), 1901

Le Lierre (Ivy), 1901 by Alphonse Mucha

A marvelous palette of soft greens, dusty lilac and mahogany brown.  I love the graceful swags of ivy looped through her hair.

I just love these buttons because they're a fun and inexpensive way to change up and bring some "wow factor" to an outfit. Pin it on a tote bag or hat, or use to secure a vintage hankie or scarf to your purse strap or belt. The possibilities are endless!

Like its companion piece Le Laurier (Laurel), the wonderful trompe-l'oeil effect gives this  work an earthy, garden feel and a tactile appeal. You want to actually reach out and feel the texture of the tile mosaics. The Arts and Crafts Movement influence is stronger and the palette more restrained in these two pieces than in most of Mucha's other works, yet that lyrical Mucha magic is as potent as ever.

Matching note cards, postcards, return address labels, stickers and more are available in my gallery's Art Nouveau Collection.
